Jeffrey Cyphers Wright is best known as a poet, but he is also a musician, publisher, critic, eco-activist, and artist. He’s the author of 15 books of verse, including most recently Blue Lyre from Dos Madres Press. He has an MFA in Poetry from Brooklyn College where he studied with Allen Ginsberg and also taught. Recent poetry and criticism is included in American Book Review, Art Nexus, and New American Writing. Wright is a 2018 Kathy Acker Award recipient for both poetry and publishing. Currently, Wright hosts events at La Mama ETC, KGB Lit Bar, and other New York venues in conjunction with his annual art and poetry journal, Live Mag!

“My work abuts the rough edge between freedom and responsibility, nature and culture. It challenges confining conventions and repurposes them into new forms—forms born of urgency and tempered by a quest for beauty and meaning. I create insignias from the pertinent signifiers of my tribe. ” –JCW
