about

Sohrab Homi Fracis <www.fracis.com> is the first Asian writer to win the Iowa Short Fiction Award, for his book TICKET TO MINTO: STORIES OF INDIA AND AMERICA (University of Iowa Press), which includes "Rabbit's Foot." The story, based on a true police confrontation of an Indian American carrying a pellet gun, was written in 1991 almost a quarter-century before twelve-year-old African American Tamir Rice was shot and killed by Cleveland police, in 2014, for playing with a pellet gun. “Rabbit’s Foot” was first published in the Toronto Review.

“Rabbit’s Foot, an excerpt,” is used with the permission of the University of Iowa Press.
